Volunteer Update - May 2020

Volunteer Update

As we have previously communicated, all parkrun events are currently on hold due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, and although many countries are gradually releasing restrictions we do not yet have any confirmed dates for reopening our events.

As your communities gradually move toward a more normal situation, please can we ask that you do not arrange, informally or otherwise, for groups of people to meet at your parkrun venues until such time that our events in your region are re-launched. We are monitoring the situation very carefully and any perceived return of parkrunning before safe to do so could damage our ability to be welcomed back into our parks and open spaces when the time is right.

We continue to pursue a cautious approach to returning and, every Tuesday, we are publishing a global update, on parkrun and the Coronavirus pandemic. These updates are available on all parkrun country blog sites and shared via our social media channels.

Importantly, if you are asked to comment publicly, particularly by media or news outlets, please simply point people toward the updates on your country’s blog site. These weekly updates will always contain the most accurate, and up-to-date information regarding our position. Please avoid speculation as to when or how parkrun may return as this can cause confusion and anxiety amongst the wider parkrun community.

We know that this has been, and continues to be, a challenging situation for many people around the world. However, it is clear to us that things are gradually moving in the right direction and we firmly believe that we will all be able to return to our free, weekly, timed, walking, jogging, running, and volunteering events in the future.

We will get through this together.
